Luxe IMAX Chennai, which opened its doors to the public on Tamil New Year Day 14th April, 2014, has certainly caused widespread excitement in the city. The Sathyam Cinemas–owned, hugely popular entertainment destination SPI Cinemas’ talks with the US–based IMAX Corporation fell through 4 years back when they were toying with the idea to open an IMAX screen in Chennai. It was finally then that a four–theatre deal was signed between IMAX and SPI Cinemas in an effort to bring the magic of IMAX to Chennai, as well. Now, there are two separate IMAX screens in the city – Luxe at Vellachery and Palazzo at Forum Vijaya Mall at Vadapalani.
