According to the executive vice-president of Godrej Properties, Girish Shah, almost 25% of real estate business comes from digital media today. Even though the online venture of real estate seems promising, given that it brings convenience in making payments and booking homes, there are several drawbacks of it all the same. For starters, booking a home online is only one step of many that the buyer must take before the home is finally his own. After booking a home online a buyer will still have to visit the bank in person in order to deal with the formalities and documentation if a loan is need. Also, a visit to the local government offices is absolutely necessary for taking care of registration, stamp duty, etc. All this involves a great deal of paperwork, and must be done offline.

Also, in order to fully grasp the pros and cons of a flat and its location one has to visit the flat in person. No amount of description, video tours or images is going to replace a personal visit. But it is true that online booking can help in case the apartments are in huge demand, and an urgent booking is required.

At any rate, while online selling of properties is still at its nascent stage, the business is booming still. Many companies such as commonfloor.com, proptiger.com, and housing.com have been investing a lot in technology and for maintaining their online presence lately. They have been readily working on providing virtual walkthroughs and 3D models of the properties to their buyers.

At this point of time it is difficult to say for sure if the online selling of real estate will be a success in the long run. But at least for now, the results are quite satisfactory for the online sale of Chennai new apartments flats for sale
