The Vizag sky lantern festival which happened late last year in Indira Priyadarshini Muncipal Stadium & AU Engineering college grounds which was all about ‘make a wish light a lantern’ where people would release sky lanterns in the air that signifies good luck and blessings. The festival was for a better Vizag and a better Andhra Pradesh. As per Chinese belief, the festival mainly focuses on “Make a Wish, Light a Lantern” which is based on an ancient Asian tradition where sky lanterns are released as a form of prayer for good luck and blessings. They are using Sky Lanterns made with Rice Paper (Bio degradable) which will fly to the altitude of 700 to 850 Feet with 10 minutes of Flying Time from the time of release.

Basically the Vizag sky lantern festival is an action for generating integrity in people, empowerment for the youth & for a better nation with everlasting peace & prosperity. Over 15000 lanterns lit up the vizag sky making it a mesmerizing sight in itself and was actually a precursor to the Hyderabad sky lantern festival.
The thousands of sky lanterns brightened up the night sky accompanied with rock band music & other cultural programmes.
