According to sources, BAPS has already evinced interest in setting up the project on the outskirts of the Port City and the tourism department authorities have asked the Swaminarayan temple authorities for detailed requirements and estimates. The state government has already asked the Vizag district administration to identify land on the city outskirts for the project.

A suitable site somewhere near Simhachalam is to be selected for the Visakhapatnam Akshardham Temple. A detailed report on the land required, approximate expenditure, the spiritual, humanitarian and cultural activities that has to be set up as part of the complex is all submitted for the Visakhapatnam Akshardham Temple project. According top priority to the tourism and hospitality sector, the Vizag District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) too is mulling setting up spiritual and wellness centres around Simhachalam temple at par with Tirupati.
