Visakhapatnam city witnessed a free design workshop with designs crafted with a combination of fabrics such as synthetics, chiffons and georgettes embellished with lace work along with a variety of creations which were displayed by students as part of the free workshop on design and makeover. Presented by JD Institute of Fashion Technology (JDIFT), the session also included a trend bazaar as part of the event. Students felt that the forum threw open its doors to showcase their innovative creations.

The collection displayed a range of designs that kept its focus on bringing the creativity of the students to the fore. As a domain, fashion designing is heading towards new direction altogether. Moreover, with Visakhapatnam city to be developed into a smart city, it is sure that fashion designers will have better options to explore in the years to come. Most students pursuing B.Sc in Fashion and Apparel Design aspire to create their own label in the field. Although there is considerable rise in the number of girls venturing into the fashion world, a couple of boys hope for a bright future as well.
It is imperative that boys form only 10 per cent of the strength of the fashion industry. This is mainly because of the negative perception that many have towards the domain. Anyway, the workshop at Visakhapatnam city aims at clearing misconceptions about the stream and creating better awareness on the subject.
